From Commander Spani:
Folks, this past weekend I had the honor of escorting a WWII Iwo Jima Marine, Walter “Gus” Gustafson, to Washington DC on the Honor Flight. It was, without a doubt, one of the most rewarding experinces of my life.
We flew out of Sea-Tac with 4 other WWII Veterans and their Guardians (escorts) on Friday morning, then on Saturday, with a Legion motorcycle escort for our busload of WWII Veterans, left our hotel in Baltimore for the WWII Memorial in D.C.
We spent to entire day visiting the Memorials and Arlington Tomb of the Unknown. We made many new friends during our short stay.
Sunday, we flew back to Seattle and were greeted home at Sea-Tac by several members of Post 1040. I would highly recommend this trip to our WWII Veterans. The Honor Flight organization sponsors this program and the cost for the WWII Veteran. to make this pilgrimage trip…$0.00.
Please contact our Post Quartermaster, Brian Seguin, to sign up, because as I stated, it is very rewarding and a trip you will never forget.
